I’ve spent nearly 30 years as a creative director, copywriter and consistently smiley person in longtime staff and freelance roles. Twenty-two of those years were with WongDoody, where I rose to VP, Group Creative Director and was known for galvanizing teams, shaping agency culture and my love of fancy salads.*
As a freelancer, I’ve built lasting relationships with both agencies and brand partners. I created and led the brand voice for Bartell Drugs for over a decade through multiple CMO and CEO turnovers and a Rite Aid buyout. (RIP Bartells.) And I kept Papa Murphy’s voice consistent, empathetic and entertaining through four CMOs, while also hitting their highest sales week in company history.
Along the way I’ve written and led memorable, effective creative for banks, hospitals, drugstores, airlines, film festivals, universities, zoos, salad dressing, hotels, credit unions, non-profits, cell phones, tacos, tires, museums, memorial services, winches and (shockingly, as a Seattle native) apples, coffee and tech. Plus lots n’ lots of pizza.
I believe joy is a business advantage. I’m an advocate for introverted and late blooming leaders, and a mentor to quieter voices in an industry that’s traditionally rewarded the loudest in the room. I also like to laugh (at your jokes and mine) a lot.
I recently built and launched PhenomenalMe, an app to help women silence self-doubt with a growing gallery of their proudest moments. A few things I’ve saved to my own PhenomenalMe gallery include:
Receiving the AAF Seattle Silver Medal in 2022, a Hall of Fame award for creative excellence and social impact usually awarded to agency founders.
Shiny awards from One Show, Cannes, Communication Arts, Addys, Emmys, Effies, NY Festivals, Clios, and Radio Mercury Awards.
Literal trunk loads of equestrian national championships. (Yep, I’m a horse girl.)
Notes, photos and funny drawings from my two mostly-grown kids, who can still make me laugh till my cheeks cramp.
Wanna chat about work or not work? Maybe grab a salad? Let’s do it!
